About Joanna PullenAfter much research in the exciting world of machine embroidery, Joanna Pullen discovered that what she wanted was machine embroidery with a different twist for herself, a young mother. Joanna Pullen Incorporated, was born from her fascination for machine embroidery and her desire to incorporate machine embroidery for the contemporary young woman, teens and kids who love a very modern look. She loves jeans and totally up-to-the-minute clothing. She loves sewing. She loves machine embroidery. She has a vision for a “jazzed up look” in machine embroidery which she believes is just waiting to happen in this exciting industry. She has talked with mothers and grandmothers who would love to create this type of clothing for younger members of their family but just don’t have the designs YET in machine embroidery. Joanna, working with top fashion industry designers, brings to you her ideas for you to enjoy stitching on your embroidery machine. Joanna Pullen began her career in the sewing industry at age 6 when her mother, opened her shop, The Heirloom Shop. Joanna was the reason this company was created since her mother was “sewing up a storm” for her only daughter and wanted to start a business teaching others to create heirlooms for their children. Joanna actually demonstrated buttonholes in her mother’s shop from the time she was 7 years old. Joanna has been modeling for print photography since she was six and has modeled for her mother's books and magazine, Sew Beautiful. Joanna co-authored her first sewing book with her mother, Sew Kool for Kids and started Joanna’s Sew Kool for Kids Sewing School in 1999 at the
Joanna graduated from Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, Texas where she majored in fashion design and merchandising. She joined her mother’s company as Director of Children’s Sewing and Marketing Consultant in 1998, a position she held until 2004 when she joined Comcast as an advertising and sales consultant. Joanna has taped segments for a popular PBS television sewing series, Martha’s Sewing Room, which currently airs in 73% of PBS stations throughout the
Joanna is married to Ron and they are the parents of four children. They are active members of their church and Joanna volunteers with the Junior League of Huntsville.
